When I began illustrating and decided to choose portraiture as a focus, I found myself constantly worrying about how recognizable my subjects were. I would primarily focus on the sweet spot, in which my audience could both instantly know it’s an illustration while being able to process whom or what was drawn.

I began to think of my work as I do most ideas of the world, as a spectrum. My style has since developed into a spectrum of its own, allowing me to move fluidly within it depending on the project and what it calls for while still developing work that is true to myself.
