When I began illustrating and decided to choose portraiture as a focus, I found myself constantly worrying about how recognizable my subjects were. I would primarily focus on the sweet spot, in which my audience could both instantly know it’s an illustration while being able to process whom or what was drawn. My illustration style has since developed into a spectrum, allowing me to move fluidly within it depending on the project and what it calls for while still developing work that is true to myself.
